Aim of this course is to give an overview of basic molecular biology techniques and their applications for isolating and characterization of a gene. This course will cover different types of cloning vectors, different DNA manipulating enzymes, restriction enzymes and mapping, DNA ligation, selection of clones and gel electrophoresis. Further we will explore different labeling techniques, isolating of a gene from genomic library and cDNA library, genomic organization, and mapping. Finally we will discover the wonders of applications of recombinant DNA technology in medicine, forensic medicine, agriculture, animal husbandry, environment, stem cell research, and ethical implications in recombinant DNA technology.
